I’ve got a ZE0 from 2012.
Could I get a TCU from the newer version ? Or should I stick with my old which will not work in 2 years (2G shutdown).

Newer versions are not compatible with older vehicles unfortunately.
You can replace the SIM card yourself on 2011-2015 vehicles and use it with OpenCARWINGS, while 2G networks are available.

A question regarding shipping for the TCU adaptation (repair): Does the quoted price include the cost of round-trip shipping? Or do I cover the shipping cost when sending the TCU to you, with the quoted price applying only to the return shipment?

It is exactly as you described, you send it to us for repair using your preferred shipping company. The quoted price in checkout is covering only shipping back from us.
